The walls of the doctor’s office
are plastered with inspirational sayings.
“Nothing is impossible.
The word itself says ‘I am possible.’”
I adore Audrey Hepburn,
mean no disrespect.
But the platitude is the same
as the promises on the billboards
of the ‘Gentlemen’s Clubs’
I drive by daily.
No gentleman is going to pretend
these visits don’t strip you down
to where a cure feels impossible.
